broadband1 transit plans
The following FAQs are specific to our broadband1 transit plans, eligible to select new broadband customers (including existing dialup customers upgrading to broadband). Further FAQs applicable to all of our currently sold broadband plans can be found here.
Why is iiNet offering the broadband1 transit plans?
Although we would like to be able to give everyone who comes to us a place on the iinetwork
, the demand for faster broadband in Australia is such that our network can fill up quickly in certain areas. So we created the broadband1 transit plans.
broadband1 transit is our way of ensuring you get a better chance at accessing our broadband2+ network when it is expanded in the near future. These products are far superior to our broadband1 range and feature huge download quotas and either 1500kbps or up to 8000kbps speeds, depending on the plan you choose.
Your broadband1 transit plan is a launching pad to our high-speed broadband2+ plans.
How long will I be on the broadband1 transit plan?
We call these our transit plans because they are just a spring board to our high-speed broadband2+ plans. You would have been offered these plans because we have an iinetwork upgrade scheduled in your exchange. You will automatically be switched to a broadband2+ plan as soon as the upgrade is complete. This will be any time within the six months from the date your broadband service becomes active. If for any reason your build is cancelled, we will notify you via email and give you the option of leaving us without penalty or transfer you to the equivalent broadband1 plan.
How do I know which broadband1 or broadband2+ plan I'll be switched to?
You'll be switched to the equivalently priced broadband1 or broadband2+ plan to your current broadband1 transit plan. As we do not offer a $79.95 broadband2+ plan, if you select the $79.95 broadband1 transit plan, when you're exchange is ready you'll be migrated to the $69.95 broadband2+ plan.
Before we switch you over, we'll notify you via the email address provided to you (or supplied by you) at time of sign up.
What happens if my local iinetwork upgrade is cancelled or delayed?
If the build in your exchange is cancelled or delayed, we will notify you via email and give you the option to leave us without penalty or transfer you over to the equivalently priced broadband1 plan. You will have the opportunity to stay on your transit plan for six months from the date your service became active before we make the switch. The iinetwork upgrade may still occur later on down the track, however as we may not know an exact date when it will be completed, we are unable to continue offering you the transit plan indefinitely.
Is a faster speed guaranteed on broadband2+?
Broadband plans on the iinetwork offer the theoretical ADSL2+ maximum speed of up to 24,000kbps. The exact speed you experience will depend on several factors such as your distance from the exchange, phone line quality and hardware.
If I close my broadband1 transit plan, are the normal fees applicable?
Yes. If you cancel your broadband1 transit plan before we switch you over to broadband1 or broadband2+, all normal fees will be incurred such as the early termination fee and any hardware discount you received in taking a 24 month agreement.
Will I still get unmetered downloads through Anytime when I'm on a broadband1 transit plan?
Yes, as a broadband1 transit customer you can download movies from Anytime without having it affect your download quota.
Can I bundle while on a broadband1 transit product?
Yes. You may choose to bundle your broadband with our Phone 1 and/or VOIP products when signing up for your broadband1 transit product or anytime later through your online account management site, Toolbox. When you are switched over to either broadband1 or broadband2+, we'll simply carry your phone services over as well. So you'll be able to continue enjoying our great call rates and huge bonus downloads.
What happens if I'm on a broadband1 transit plan and I relocate to a new home?
In relocating to a broadband2+ exchange:
- if there are free broadband2+ places, you will be asked to select a plan from our broadband2+ range
- if there are no free broadband2+ places, but broadband1 transit plans are available, you will be asked to select a broadband1 transit product however please note that in this situation your six month maximum time on the transit plan will start from scratch
- if there are no free broadband2+ ports, you will need to select a new broadband plan from our broadband1 range
If you relocate to a broadband1 exchange you will need to select a new broadband plan from our broadband1 range
Can I change to a broadband1 or broadband2+ plan anytime I want?
You will only be switched to a broadband2+ plan when the iinetwork upgrade in your exchange is complete. You will only be transferred to a broadband1 plan if the build in your exchange doesn't go ahead for reasons unforeseen at the time you signed up for it. We will of course notify you before we make either of these changes.
Can I change to another broadband1 transit plan whenever I want?
Yes, you can do so through your online account management site, Toolbox. Please note that if you select a new broadband1 transit plan of equal or lesser value to your current plan, a $19 administration will apply.
