can access modem, but can't connect to the internet on Windows Vista
The PPPoE method of connection is recommended for iiNet customers who use TransACT or are having difficulty logging into the internet. Modems that use this type of connection include the D-Link DSL-300, Alcatel Speed Touch Home as well as modems that have been placed into "Bridge Mode".
- Click on the Start menu and then on Control Panel
- In the Control Panel select the option called Network and Internet
- Once in the Network and Internet category head to the Network and Sharing Center
- The Network and Sharing Center gives you an overview of the network status of your computer
- To setup the connection select Setup a connection or network
- For this type of connection you'll need to select Connect to the Internet
- Click Next to continue
- Select the Broadband (PPPoE) option and make sure any dialup options aren't selected
- Enter your iiNet Username and Password in the fields provided
- You can use Show Characters to show the password as you type it which makes it easy to see if you've entered it correctly - once you have typed the password, untick the box to hide your password again
- Click Connect to continue
- This will create the connection and make it ready for use
- Click Close to continue
- You will be returned to the Network and Sharing Center
- To use the connection click on Manage network connections
- Under Broadband you will see the connection you have just created
- Double-click this to bring up the connection window
- Click Connect to connect to the Internet
You should now be connected to the Internet.
