fix secure sites won't load on Windows
Sometimes websites don't load properly. You might have problems collecting your email or logging into internet banking. Together with a free piece of software you can help to resolve these issues if your modem doesn't have the option to adjust this setting.
You will need to download the software called DrTCP. It is a small program that is totally free (as in pay nothing free) that allows you to make some changes to settings on your computer. Download it here
DrTCP
1. When you download the program you will need to unzip it to a location on your computer (ie C:\DrTCP)
Open the DrTCP program and you will be presented with lots of things. The most important parts are as follows:
Broadband
The broadband section is under Adapter settings.You must make the changes on the correct adapter or this process will fail to resolve your problems. A common adapter is named Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Desktop . Fill in the MTU box with a value of 1492 or lower (in multiples of 8). Click Save, then restart your computer for the change to take effect.
Dialup
The dialup section is labelled Dialup (RAS) MTU. Fill in this box with a value of 576 or lower (in multiples of 8). Click Save, then restart your computer for the change to take effect.
