Configuration Reference Guide

This page contains the basic settings and server addresses you require to dial into iiNet. For more information please visit our support pages.

iiNet National Dialup Number
iiNet is proud to announce we now have one national number for all our clients to connect.

If you currently have a residential dial-up account that is one of the accounts below:

You can now dial 0198 379 000.

To do this, simply click here and open the 'iiNet Transition Assistant', this will step you through the number change process.

You can make the change manually by choosing your operating system and clicking the relevant link below. Then follow the instructions.

Alternatively, if you have a business account that requires a static IP you will need to dial 0198 379 100. Accounts that require static IP's are:

If you installed your Internet software from one of iiNet's Internet Kits, your Internet software should be configured correctly for your use with our system. Often you may wish to experiment with some new software not in our pack, or upgrade some software. This guide should help you with any of the settings you may need to set.

Domain Name Server (DNS)
This server can be used as both your primary and your secondary DNS.

DNS Server..................: 203.0.178.191

Mail Settings
There are two different mail settings you may need. Firstly there is the incoming mail server, also know as the POP server, or simply the mail server. For dialup customers, it depends on your account type, but it should generally be "mail.iinet.net.au".

Secondly, there is the outgoing mail server, also known as the SMTP server. This should be set to "mail.iinet.net.au".

World Wide Web/Proxy Configuration
We recommend you leave your proxy configuration blank, as we have a system which will transparently switch you through a proxy when it is expedient to do so.

USENet/News Settings
iiNet has a network of Network News servers which you can contact. These servers can also be referred to as NNTP servers.

News Server ................: freenews.iinet.net.au

IRC (Chat) Servers
There are a variety of Internet Relay Chat servers that you can use on the Internet. IRC servers are generally in a state of flux due to a bureaucracy that surrounds their operation, hence these servers could change at any time.
