iiNet's leadership recognised at industry night of nights

8 July 2011: iiNet's CEO, Michael Malone, has been recognised for his leadership and contribution to the communications industry after receiving the Communications Ambassador 2011 gong at the ACOMM Awards in Sydney last night.

The award celebrates an individual who has shown strong leadership and contributed to the cooperative development and growth of the industry.

Michael accepted the award via video message and used the opportunity to urge industry members to work together to ensure the National Broadband Network is done right.

"We do live in interesting times. As the National Broadband Network begins to roll out around the country, it's important we all step up and insist the right technological solutions are implemented on the NBN regardless of political influence," Mr Malone said.

"We all need to help customers take advantage of Broadband and the future of the Internet in Australia."

"I'd like to thank the judges, Communications Alliance, Communications Day and the staff and customers of iiNet for allowing me to be here."

iiNet took home the Partnerships for Growth award for its collaboration with tv, giving Australia's second largest DSL Internet Service Provider even more reason to crack open a bottle of bubbly.

About iiNet

iiNet is Australia's second largest DSL Internet Service Provider (ISP) and the leading challenger in the telecommunications market. We employ more than 2000 inquisitive staff across four countries and support over 1.3 million broadband, telephony and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services nationwide.

We're a publicly listed company and we maintain our own super-fast broadband network. Our vision is to lead the market with products that harness the potential of the Internet and then differentiate with award-winning customer service.

To achieve this, we employ creative thinkers and true advocates of technology. Our people are a huge part of the iiNet success story, so we've developed a unique and stimulating work culture to ensure they remain engaged and inspired.

A lot has changed since our CEO founded iiNet in a suburban garage back in 1993 and the broadband landscape continues to evolve. What hasn't changed is our passion for the transformative benefits of the Internet and our commitment to helping Australians connect better.
