Branding
Branding is the least addressed and probably has the most affect on a small business. Your brand strategy, and the equity you build in your brand, is really the value of your business.
4 tips for a great business brand:
Do your research.
- You need to know your business and competitors well before you start a business and before developing your brand
Work with professionals.
- Engage a graphic designer to help you work through the branding process and to develop business/marketing materials, such as a logo, stationery etc.
Develop a brand strategy.
- How will people engage with the brand and how will it be rolled-out? Your brand strategy needs to incorporate your business values, personality and positioning.
Also, be consistent and true to your brand – this is really important. If you can’t live and breath your brand, then why should anybody else believe in it?!
Review your brand strategy.
- Don’t be afraid to:
- Ask for feedback from people who come in contact with your brand to see if it still working for you and your business
- Throw your cards in the air and start again. Often it is better to go back to basics, and rebuild based on a clearer understanding of your business and your target audience
- Be flexible. A brand is not set in stone. Review your brand periodically and adjust accordingly to ensure your business stays in tune with your customers and their needs
